Arizona Cardinals (NFL)

The Cardinals were founded in 1898 and in 1920 became a charter member of the National Football League, then known as the American Professional Football Association. The club holds the distinction of being the United States’ oldest professional football franchise still in existence. The Cardinals relocated to Arizona from St. Louis in the spring of 1988 and made Sun Devil Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University their new home.

Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix

The Japanese Friendship Garden, named Rohoen, is a joint project of the City of Phoenix and its Sister City Himeji, Japan. Himeji Mayor, Matsuji Totani proposed the garden in 1987 to cement the bonds of friendship between Japan and the United States and particularly between the peoples of Himeji and Phoenix. The teahouse and surrounding tea garden were completed in November 1996, the 20th anniversary of the Sister City relationship. The project features a stroll garden, tea garden, and a dry garden.

The Penske Racing Museum showcases an amazing collection of cars, trophies and racing memorabilia chronicling the career of one of the most successful dynasties in all of sports. Team Penske has more than 50 years of racing experience and more than 600 major race wins highlighted by 20 Indianapolis 500-mile race victories. On display in the museum are cars detailing the diversity of Team Penske including a 2015 Ford Fusion driven to victory at the Daytona 500 by Joey Logano. Additionally, a number of Indianapolis 500-mile race winners are on display, including the 1979 Penske PC 6 driven by Rick Mears to win his 1st of 4 Indy 500s.

People have visited Rosson House Museum to see what life was like in Territorial Phoenix at the turn of the 20th century. The Rosson House stories have covered the original four families who owned the home – the Rossons, Goldbergs, Higleys, and Gammels – as well as Whitelaw Reid, the wealthy “snowbird” who rented the home from the Rossons during the winters of 1895-6, and 1896-7.

Traditionally, pasties were made with a thick crimped edge along one side so the miners could use the crimp as a handle to hold on to while eating. The miner’s hand would often be covered in arsenic from the mine, so the miners would discard the handle when they were done. Pasties were made with different fillings at each end. One end contained meat and vegetables, and one end had a sweet filling. Today, Cornish pasties are filled with steak, potatoes, swede (rutabaga) and onions. Signature, Premium and Vegan and Vegetarian pasties are available.
