The College invites you to submit an abstract for the 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting, November 7-11 in Houston. The theme of the meeting is: Advocating for Patients, Practices and Research.
Scientific Research Abstract Submissions
Distinguished Industry Oral Abstract Presentations
The College will select the top research abstracts from industry to be designated as Distinguished Industry Oral Abstracts. These will be presented during two concurrent Saturday, November 9 sessions from 4:30-5:30 pm. This special event will take place, unopposed and with refreshments, just prior to the all-popular FIT Bowl.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS
Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the online form, and they must be complete, including the author listing. ACAAI will not accept any abstracts or abstract changes after the submission deadline. Abstract changes include: changes to title or body, changes to presenting authors, author additions, revised author names, and/or revised author listing. The deadline for abstract submission and receipt of all author disclosures is 11:59 PM (CDT) on July 21, 2019. This deadline applies to ALL scientific research abstracts.
The College follows the ICMJE quidelines. The ICMJE recommends that authorship be based on the following 4 criteria:
-Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
-Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
-Final approval of the version to be published; AND
-Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All abstracts must be devoid of commercial bias. Trade names should not be used in referencing drugs, devices or instrumentation. Any medications or other substances referred to in the presentation material should be identified by their generic name or description. Trade name violations/commercial bias will result in below average scores or rejection. Failure to disclose financial relationships with ACCME-defined *commercial interests will prohibit an author/presenter from participating in oral and poster sessions.
Employees of pharmaceutical or medical device companies or other ACCME-defined *commercial interests are prohibited from participating as an author or presenter of an oral abstract chosen for presentation during a CME Session; however, they may participate as an author or presenter for an electronic poster session, or an abstract chosen for oral presentation during a non-CME Distinguished Industry Oral Abstracts session.
*An ACCME-defined commercial interest is, “any entity producing, marketing, reselling or distributing healthcare goods or services used on, or consumed by, patients.”
All authors must complete the online Disclosure of Financial Relationships by July 21, 2019 for Research Abstracts. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the author being removed from the abstract.
There is a $60 non-refundable fee for each abstract submission. Payment does not guarantee acceptance. Payment must be made by credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express). Purchase orders and checks will not be accepted.
A written request must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by July 30, 2019. Any abstract withdrawn after that date cannot be assured removal from the 2019 ACAAI Annual Scientific Meeting Program Guide or the November supplement to ACAAI's official Journal, the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
REQUIRED INFORMATION NEEDED FOR EACH AUTHOR:
ORGANIZATION OF ABSTRACT BODY
There is a limit of 15 words for the title and 250 words for the body of your abstract submission.
Each abstract should contain:
Be sure to use the words “Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion” in the body of your abstract to indicate the start of each new section. The abstract title and author information should not be included in the body of the abstract. You are also able to use "Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion" where applicable.
Best results are achieved copying and pasting directly from a Word document. Please make sure that you use the "Insert Symbols" feature in Word for any mathematical, Latin or scientific expressions. If you are entering the copy directly onto the Abstract Form, you must use the “Symbols” icon to ensure your result is displayed accurately. Always verify that your information is correct prior to submitting by selecting "Print Preview."
Capitalize the first letter of each word of the title. Do not use formatting tags in the title. The title will be formatted automatically by the system at the time of print production. Abbreviations must not be used in the title.
Editorial Policies for Authors (ICMJE Guidance)
Reproduced Materials - When previously published figures or tables are used, the author must obtain written permission from the copyright holder (usually the publisher) to reproduce the material in print and online. An appropriate credit line should be included in the figure legend or table footnote, and full publication information should be cited in the reference list. Letters of permission must accompany the manuscript at the time of submission.
Use of Figures
You may add one figure to your abstract, however, it is recommended that results be shown in narrative form, since figure formats may be compromised in publication. The figure must be submitted as a jpg file and cannot exceed 500kb.
If the abstract is accepted for presentation at the 2019 ACAAI Annual Meeting, the submitting author will be notified via email in mid-August. Only the submitting author will be notified of the abstract disposition. Please make sure that your contact information is accurate. The notification will include: 1) placement decision; 2) date and time of session; and 3) format of presentation (oral or electronic poster). Abstracts scheduled for presentation will be grouped by topic, numbered and listed in the program and published in the November Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology abstract supplement. The decision of the ACAAI Abstract Review Subcommittee regarding acceptance and presentation of abstracts is final.
All authors who will be attending the Annual Meeting must register online for the meeting and pay any applicable registration fees. The meeting registration site will open in early August
For your convenience, all accepted posters for the 2019 ACAAI Annual Meeting will be displayed electronically. In addition to display in the ePoster location during the times that the Exhibit Hall is open, they will be available online 24/7. There will be monitors available during any of the non-display times and you should feel free to invite your colleagues to come view and discuss your ePoster during one of those times. Technical staff will be available to assist throughout the meeting. Complete details regarding the electronic posters will be sent to the submitting author of accepted abstracts at the end of August.
